What happens to drivers in a driverless future?

I already posted about self-driving cars that are becoming a very real technology. Tesla, Google and other manufacturers are developing their own self-driving systems.
But, a huge number of people have jobs as drivers. Long haul truckers, taxi and bus drivers, package deliveries, etc. There's even idea of driverless car racing.
The question is what's going to happen to these people in a driverless future?

Well, the same that happened to many factory workers which were replaced by machines and robots - they will have to learn a new trade and find new jobs elsewhere.

It's an ongoing process. The simple jobs are taken over by machines, automats and robots, and lately also not-so-simple but repetitive jobs in economics and even research are taken over by advanced machines and AI based solutions.
