My uncle's son, 3 year-old, was diagnosed as autistic child.

We don't know what to help him?

What is the the cause of this autism ?

After a little research using the google search engine, I have found that autism is not well understood. There seem to be a few conditions that can contribute to autism, such as maternal rubella, tuberous sclerosis, lack of oxygen at birth and complications of childhood illnesses such as whooping cough and measles (taken from http://osiris.sunderland.ac.uk/autism/what.htm).

There is no treatment as of yet, unfortunately. So be patient, and work with the child. It's the only way for now.

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis.

short answer: they don't know.

long answer: there are lots of theories about autisctics processing thigns differently. such as how they tend to have problems being social. they aparently are very poor at understanding that people are not just interactive objects. so they tend to be egocentric.

also that autism really isn't an all or nothing thing. many people have some degree of autism that would never be diagnosed. so autism may just be an extreme of a naturally ocuring range, and not really a disorder.

i'll see if i can find better answers tomorrow from my dept.

how to teach this type of children ?
they are very allergic to food, a doctor said cow's milk contains gluten that can harm autistic child, we got to change to soy based milk.

Headache!!!

I wasn't aware that autism caused allergies...are you sure that your cousin isn't allergic to gluten as well as being autistic? A lot of people are allergic to gluten.

I'll get back to you on how to teach and work with autistic children. A very good friend of mine works with autistic pre-schoolers, and will likely be able to give some advice.

There is an autistic guy in my school (highschool/secondary). He is very nice, autistics are very unique people. This guy can tell you the license plate numbers of all 12,000 people living in our township, but he couldnt tell you how much a candy bar at the store costs.

Not very helpful, i know, sorry

a good friend's cousin who is autistic also has many food allergies so they have to introduce new foods slowly. i wish i could tell you more but i know nothing on the topic.

I have a little brother that is austic. I have an uncle that looks just like him that is very bright. We think it was a side effect of the vaccines he recieved. Bush has snuck a provision into the homeland security bill that prevents people from sueing companies that produce vaccines with harmful side effects. My little brother has ebveryline of dbz memorized. The same is true of most commercials. I have alittle of that too. I can't learn math that fast but im a history(wannabe) buff.

Autism is a brain disorder, there is evidence that it is caused by genetic susceptibility and factors in fetal environment as an inducers… What those factors are is still unknown. ~60% of Identical twins with one member having autism the other will have it to. In Maternal twins that rate is only ~2% which is still far above normal population average of ~.04%.

Autism it self is a brain disorder with known anatomical anomalies such as the loss of a pon in the medulla associated with facial/emotion recognition.

Here is a extremely technical article about it:

The cause for autism will not be forthcoming for some time.
The current explosion in autism is telling but it only tells us it is new and growing.
Think of all the new developments and toxins that have been introduced in the last 60 years.
It is a very long list.

The neuro toxins in pesticides such as "7" (now banned in the USA but not Mexico) is a strong contender.

Also vinyl chloride is a suspect.

However we may not know for hundreds of years.
Not only have vaccines been made exempt from legal action stemming from harm but sadly the patriot act makes WHATEVER a Chemical Company makes a matter of national security.

The act clearly states that a spill, accident or unintentional release of chemicals/toxins may NOT be made known even to hospital staff and doctors.

This new climate of corporatism that approaches fascism will certainly not aid parents with any helpful information as to how to avoid contamination that could avoid or reduce the risk of autism.

I talked to my friend about how to work with the child. I apologize for the lateness, but she is very busy, and isn't readily available for conversation.

Short answer is, every child is different. There are some very high functioning autistic children, and some that aren't. She suggested a program called Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), which has a team of specialists look at the child and determine what their needs are, and how to go about working with them. The biggest problem, she said, is communication a lot of the time. If spoken language isn't developed, some means of communication will be necessary (signs, images, etc.).

That's all I can really say. Autism has such a large spectrum, so it comes down to the individual case. I hope it helps.

with so many chemical aditives in our foods today,I wouldn't doubt it was related to some of these new sickneses, which were unheard of few years ago, when people used to eat more natural foods.
proper nutrition might be able to cure this, worth trying imo.

If it were poor diet, then the damage would have already been done. Especially in disorders to do with neural activity, since most of the development occurs at an early age. Improving the diet now could prevent further damage, but it wouldn't do as treatment.
