I would be concerned that if testing technology is patented that insurance companies and employers may find ways to utilize this as a screening mechanism to reduce their costs of doing business by denying employment or insurance to those whom they deem to be high risk.
Of course, this would not be ethical, on the surface, yet they are already taking saliva tests in some cases and the reason for denial can also be laid at another door.
I have a young friend with childhood onset diabetes and she is unable to obtain life insurance directly from an insurance agency as it is on their pre-existing conditions list that permits them to deny coverage.
