Was the Messiah divine, or was he merely 'anointed?'

M*W: We all know the story. Jesus was 'anointed' with Mary Magdalen's precious spikenard... but, he wasn't technically 'divine' until almost 400 AD! Why? What happened in the interim? Was he ever divine at all?

Divine as in....? Sorry, I'm not much of a bible reader or church goer as I explained before. As in perfect? Well, you may know my opinion on that.

M*W: There is NO scripture that specifically states that Jesus is divine. That is left to the imagination. Jesus wasn't specifically determined to be 'divine' until almost 400 AD. Why, then why, do his followers think he was the savior. Clearly, it isn't so!
