Warren Buffet: I should be paying a lot more in taxes!

WASHINGTON -- Billionaire Warren Buffett rebutted claims that the Obama administration is unjustly hurting business orders with high taxes by saying that in fact, the wealthy have never had it so good.

"I think that people at the high end, people like myself, should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it," he told ABC's Christiane Amanpour in a clip played on "This Week" on Sunday.

When Amanpour pointed to critics' claims that the very wealthy need tax cuts to spur business and capitalism, Buffett replied, "The rich are always going to say that, you know, 'Just give us more money, and we'll go out and spend more, and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you.' But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on."

Nuff said.

If Mr. Buffet wants to pay more taxes, there is nothing stopping Him from doing so, all He has to do, is not claim any exemptions, and write the check.

pj, pj, you are so wrong.

No I'm right I know people who have tried. they got a letter back with the check from the government saying they couldn't accept it and thanking them for the offer. I'm sure if you'd stop being an ideological hack and think about you could figure out why.

Buffett is welcome to donate all the money he wants to causes he believes in. But I'd appreciate it if he'd refrain from auctioning off the lives of others to the government.

But if he really thinks that way he can always donate money to the IRS anonymously and that way he won't feel as bad.

How do we know he is not donating to charity and even the government already? its not even a Tu quoque fallacy yet as we don't even know if he is being hypocritical.

Trickle down economics was a joke 30 years ago and its a Joke now! Look at the history of it, taxes are made low on the rich, the rich get richer and the middle class shrinks, the economy gets unstable and then collapses, same thing happen in 1928 and you would think we would learn!

I say instead of arguing over ideology, we argue over policy! I say complete overhaul of the tax system, I say flat tax minus deductible, so say 40% minus 20,000, Here the break down:

Income Equation $ Equation %
$20,000 -$12,000.00 -60%
$30,000 -$8,000.00 -27%
$40,000 -$4,000.00 -8%
$50,000 $0.00 0%
$65,000 $6,000.00 6%
$100,000 $20,000.00 13%
$150,000 $40,000.00 16%
$250,000 $80,000.00 16%
$500,000 $180,000.00 36%
$1,000,000 $380,000.00 38%
$1,500,000 $580,000.00 39%
$2,250,000 $880,000.00 39%
$3,375,000 $1,330,000.00 39%

negative values will only count as zero, thus anyone below $50k pays nothing! Add to that a federal sales or value added tax and we can reduce the income tax percentage.

Mr. Buffet is making a policy arguement mr. roam. He is saying wealthy folks can and need to bear an increased share of this nations tax burden for good of all involved.

Get a clue people.

Buffet is a fucking corporation like anyone with half a brain making over 80K a year, if they can (some are tied to wage-income slavery because of their job structure).

He pays the same cheap ass corporate tax any corporation pays. It is almost always a lower percentage than even someone making 20K a year, as long as you have an accountant worth their paycheck filing it.

He is simply being intellectually HONEST.

The bulk of the taxes is being paid by wage(incometaxed)-slaves and it's not fair.

Buffet is complaining about an unfair tax system, not his inability to give more money to the government.

Dude, as they say down here where you and I both live, "You're just being plain silly." ;) People send checks to the IRS every single year - ones who feel guilty about not paying their full taxes (cheating) in the past. They use things like cashiers checks so that they can't be personally identified.

Corporate taxes in the US are actually pretty high. Higher than places like Germany and France and Britain. It's the tax codes loopy exemptions that are the problem.

mmm kay so the logic follows that the very intelligent Warren Buffet is asking for said Loop-holes to basically fuck off.

Whatever. All he's really saying is that people who are very well-off should be paying more of the general tax bill - himself included.

Perhaps, I've heard him say something along the lines of "I've benefited the most from this system, my group should pay more". Every few months though, his loudest argument is that he simply cannot believe that the vast multitude of wage slaves pay more percentage in taxes than he does. It truly is mind boggling.

This statement is supported by what?
