Has anyone seen the movie "Waking Life" it started out as you follow this guy as he talks to philosiphers about life, love, and evolution etc. the kick of the movie is (spoiler warning) these philosophers pop in pop out the scenery changes at will and the main character is kinda confused as are you the viewer. Thats until he meets one guy that explains to him the principle behind lucid dreaming and you come to find out your in the main characters dream and it starts to make a little more sense as the main character begains to lucid dream. The movie is made with a new technique thats similar to rotoscoping used by Disney although instaed of drawing over real film with a pencil film is drawn over by a computer. This technique really lends itself to the dream subject matter because it gives the movie an other worldly feel for example in scenes that the characters are still there is still movement like the background is floating or the dream characters morph then change back really astonishing. The speaches philosophies and tirades of the dream characters are interesting also. This isnt your typical smash blow up a second movie, but if you like fare off the beaten path or have interest in dreams you might want to check it out. I think I will buy it but you can rent it at your nearest blockbuster.
