Identical twins share the same placenta. Fraternal twins do not. Until now. In a case that contradicts the medical textbooks, doctors have shown for the first time that nonidentical twins--which come from two eggs fertilized by different sperm--can share the same placenta, reports Reuters of a case presented by physicians at the University of Washington in Seattle.
