I noticed yesterday something that I and everyone else can do, but had never paid it any attention.

I bit a sleeping tablet in half and not wanting to taste it, I think I moved my tounge up slightly and somehow turned of my sense of taste.

It was only when I lowered my tongue that I got any taste at all. However does this work? Is it just the movement of the tongue or does something else happen?

I read somewhere , that the tastebuds of the tongue only register salt, sour, bitter and sweet tastes - everything else are aromas , that are registered by smell - you blocked the passage to your nose with your tongue..... I once had a good meal , while I had a cold - couldn´t taste anything except salt ......
