They have not comprehended ALLAH with the comprehension due to Allah; ...” (22:74)

Whichever side you turn there is the Face of ALLAH!.. --Fa’aynamaa tuwalluu fa’samma waj-hullah (2:115)

Have you seen those who have made gods of their own fancies?” (45:23)

What do these three signs from the Koran make you think?

Does anybody really think that Mohammed comprehended Allah with the comprehension due Him?

If every way you turn you see the Face of God, then you are an inch away from the Great Realization.

Those who make their own fancies into Gods are the Intellectuals. A Mystic or Spiritualist will always use the foundation of Divine Revelation to support any doctrines that he may construct. But Philosophers, and Intellectuals come entirely out of their own heads. They can apologize by saying that God created their brains and so their brains should not be wrong, however, intellectuals can never agree with themselves, or if they can agree as a group, then the are seen to be disagreeing with the intellectuals of the last or next generation. Whenever you find disagreement, one or both sides must be wrong. But Divine Revelation has always been vindicated by Time.

By your definition some scary people have recieved divine revalation. And, persons that kill in the name of anything mystic have never been vindicated in recorded history.
Your debate will not stand if your going to invent facts. There are spiritual philosophers and there are intellectuals who allow for mystical events. Abraham was reported to (and believed by many to) have had a good understanding of astronomy.

I can't vouch for followers. There is no telling how some idiots understand certain things. Then there is Interest. Interested Parties often use twisted interpretations of Religion to further their own end -- the Religious Right in America using Religion for the old fashioned goal of World Conquest.

But, for the sake of intellectual honesty (if such a thing exists) I have to admit that Saint Bernard was the impelling force behind the disasterous 2nd Crusade. They don't come more Christ-like than Saint Bernard. Miracles all over the place and his touch could convey the Mystical Realization (given enough time for it to take root and grow). But he wanted that War. It may have been one of God's Myteries. When news came back that the Crusaders were annihilated almost to the man, Bernard said "Good! Those horse thieves and rapists deserved to die. They were polluting Europe and the best thing they could do for themselves was to die in service to God before they could expand on their crimes and sinfulness.

So we had a situation where the Norman Conquerors of Europe were marched out to commit collective suicide against a force of Turks that had been regrouping for an Invasion against Europe. God's Will may have been done.

We should realize that in God's perspective, everyone dies sooner or later, and that they die sooner then later is often not such a bad thing. God may judge it appropriate to take a generation to save a Society. For instance, the Great Flood. God decided that left alone Humanity would become animalistic and totally evil. To save Humanity, humanity was destroyed... all except one family.

Saint Bernard sounds like a TV evangelist.

But, your problem is that you did vouch for any person claiming to be a mystic or spiritualist. You said they were under the direction of the divine. By your arguement both sides were justified.
