This woman is awesome

Speaking of...

December 29, 2003 -- A Brooklyn man blew away an intruder who broke into his apartment yesterday in an apparent robbery attempt, authorities said.

The would-be crook broke into the first-floor apartment at 600 E. 16th St. in Flatbush at around 6:45 p.m., and ran into the tenant in the bedroom, police sources said.

That's when the intruder pulled out a fake gun - and the resident responded by shooting him one time in the face with a real 9mm handgun.

The burglar was pronounced dead at the scene.

If the burglar had a real gun, he still would of got shot in the face. This article is just proof of what proper gun training can do.

Note: I wonder how ya'll feel about mass bow and arrow ownership? Imagine if everyone had cross-bows...

Finally, someone I agree with whole heartedly on this topic in this forum. Guns are deadly and, accordingly, education and regulation should be mandatory with ownership. *I'm curious; what country does a ballistics test?*

I read the posts - some pretty intense stories. But did you notice what element made them intense? guns.

Gun ownership for personal protection is fear personified. Why that fear exists I'll never know. The possibility of a woman (just for you xev) breaking into your house and carving your intestines out so she can make sausages is but one possibility of your demise - albeit a highly unlikely possibility. But is that really a good argument for owning a gun? Or is that a good argument that supports my first line, "fear personified"?

Gun ownership for sport/hobby is justified. [No comment needed here]

Gun ownership supported by "rights based argument" is fanatical. Arguing it is "my constitutional right" to own a gun is a slap in the face to the institution that granted you a right in the first place because at the same time that argument ignores that institutions right - the right to govern. The government provides for everyones safety first and, as it was pointed out already, their are not enough cops on the streets to protect us from every gun wielding idiot effectively so the logical next step is to regulate. Something the "rights based" argument will not accept - fanatics.

I keep a Browning Gold 12 under the bed, and the 00's in the nightstand. You really don't want to fire a rifle in your house. Don't know how far it's going to go.

Woe to the poor bastard that breaks into my hizzie.

Woooops, my mistake - COUNTY. :p

And yet it happens every day.

Probably. My point was; the number of times a crime such as this occurs does not support the "personal protection" argument rather, the "fear personified" argument.

Instead of criticism on your comment (which hits an interesting point, but deserves an entirely new thread) , I post a reply to the original content.

Simply stated; I enjoy it! She reminds me of my grandma.. Oh grandma, with your double barrel sawed off shotgun, and AKA semi automatic something or another rifle. You were one bad ass mofo. As is this old lady, dam^ I’d hate to meet her in a dark alley… I wonder what her and her friends were watching when the burglar came up.. Boy would that be odd, catching older people getting their hoo-haa’s off to some midget porn. Whew…

Erm. Yes- in reply to all this nonsense about guns, if used properly they are an asset; to us all, and as well- it’s always good to keep prepared. Any cartoon sporting ironic humor can show you exactly why, also- people should note that guns don’t advocate or endorse killing. People do, people do the killing as well- not guns, nor bullets, nor any part of any inanimate object, no matter what your little minds try to make of human nature and how it’s influenced by random things that take up space, both physically and metaphysically.

People decide to kill. The voices in some peoples head, force them to decide to kill- but I remind you, those voices are by no means a side effect of owning and or holding a gun.

If someone wants to do harm, they’ll find a way, with or without guns. Blunt objects do nicely.. If guns were outlawed completely, it would just increase my chance of being beat to death by a blunt object- as I wouldn’t have a 12 gauge, 22 rifle, or 9mm to defend myself with.
Gun safety courses, not laws- monkey nuts.

I make no sense, with my closing statements. I enjoy that too, you go grandma!

Crossbow.. mmm..

Actually, I’m more of a longbow chap myself… But within walls, I’d have to say a preloaded crossbow might do the trick, tucked neatly beneath my bed… I like it! BAN GUNS! Let’s all own crossbow’s! Maybe we can concoct a semi automatic crossbow- If they don’t already have one, although I do prefer the renaissance.

Nice. How would that look in the news? '80 year old lady loads full of bolts, straight from a semi-automatic crossbow'
I'd love it.
GRANDMA! I've got you a new toy!

You almost start wondering how in earth people survive without owning a gun. According to the statistics in this thread we should all be fucking dead and gutted.
