The Relativity of Time

He also bemoaned:

Albert was noted for his humour.....You have failed to recognise the humour in what he said...an agenda perhaps?

Someone [a lay person like myself] asked him what relativity was.
He replied with the following....

"When you are courting a nice girl an hour seems like a minute. When you sit on a red-hot stove for a minute, it seems like an hour. That's relativity" .

"Many a true word/fear was spoken in jest." Take notice of that old and proven truism, or you'll miss even that clue to what Albert was really thinking/fearing at that stage of what was already starting to be removed further and further from the reality, silly goose.

Calm down old fella! Don't tell Albert what he was thinking.
Like I said, he had a great sense of humour. That was obvious. And when he spoke facetiously of mathematicians, he had his tongue planted firmly in his cheek.
Afterall, he was pretty good at maths himself...Probably would have run rings around you and me, hey?

"Many a true word/fear was spoken in jest!" says that what Einstein jested on was his true word/fear. He was proven right since. The mathematicians after almost a century have failed to deliver the real physical complete and consistent ToE because the abstraction and confusion they have wrought to poor Albert's insights is incapable of delivering the reality ToE. Obviously, or it would already have been done by the mathematician-physicists 'profession'. Duh!

You, poor paddo-noisemaker', are just a dullard and the most silly of the trolls ever encountered on the net so far. Your wifey would be embarrassed no end were she to find out this is the intellectual and personal 'integrity' of her 'chosen one'. Poor choice. Poor thing. :(

I'm not sinking into your pit anymore undefined.....Suffice to say, I do not for one minute believe you are who you say you are or that you have a ToE..
Your incredible bizzare behaviour tells us all that.

You dug your own 'pit', mate. I'm on the outside looking into it. Not a pretty sight so far. Do/learn better.

And there you go with your 'beliefs' line of argument/self-justification as if the 'beliefs' of a silly clueless internet troll had any relevance to anything at all except to your and your fellow internet troll agendas. Do/learn better.

I already did, OnlyMe. And since you asked for the whole context, here it is in the full Einstein speech:

He also bemoaned:

So the later mathematical overlays and abstractions/confusions only makes THAT EARLIER CONTEXT only MORE POIGNANT because the CURRENT CONTEXT has gone so far for abstraction/maths and removed itself too far from the reality context of the earlier days when the theory was first proposed consistent with INSIGHTS into the ACTUAL REALITY which the theory ABSTRACTED from its 'maths/abstract relativities and left the actual real physical entities/mechanisms/processes and causes behind.

Let's step back into the reality CONTEXT and see what we left behind when the abstractions cascade of overlays and confusions started to roll with gay abandon, shall we? That's what some of us 'cranks' have been doing quietly and thoroughly while the cavalcade of "the mathematicians" Einstein bemoaned about went on unabated and without a second thought to the reality entities/mechanisms/processes and causes they all left behind more and more with each passing 'overlay' and assumption in REMOTE VIEW ABSTRACTION not LOCAL REALITY. Good luck, OnlyMe. Cheers. :)

So you have proven you can cut and paste. Still waiting for proof that you understand what you cut and paste.

That's it? You disappoint me, mate. :(

YOU asked for the context. I gave it to you in full.

And even now, after that, you also blithely ignore the facts and their implications and the reason Einstein abstracted in the first place and the fear he had that the mathematicians were taking the maths abstractions too far away from his original reality insights....and you just come back with that silly remark?

OnlyMe, seriously, I expected much better from you, as I didn't see you as anything like a troll/egotistical 'facts denier' poster. Oh well. See ya round mate, if that's all you got in 'rebuttal'. Good luck with that. Take care, OnlyMe. :)

Cranks never understand that they can't just complain about math, they actually have to do it.

Why, when the current maths as currentlyn axiomatically based on purely NON-REAL philosophical ONLY 'dimensionless point' NOTION has led to math-turbatory hell for the current abstractions based theory? As Einstein already pointed out that way back then...

Ever since the mathematicians have invaded my theory, I don't understand it myself anymore!---------Einstein

Besides, I invented a whole new REALITY-based axiomatic set to enhance the mathematics, so you are just a silly ass with nothing at all to offer anyone, let alone the mathematics OR the physics ToE. No need for ANYONE here to take your silly trolling whining and lying seriously at all, is it? Duh! :)

At least I'm not the only Ass...:) Join the club PhysBang! :)

So is it that you did not read my earlier post or you just did not understand?

Context! Context! Context!

Context is often found in more than just the words their-self. That passage comes from his 1920 University of Leyden address. To understand it fully you must try to understand the audience he was speaking to!

You cannot just read a historical address from within the context of today's knowledge base. You have to consider the knowledge base of the audience and what he (Einstein) was attempting to convey.., to that audience.

Give it a try.

Pay attention. Context is not always found in the words, especially within a historical setting. As far as Einstein's Leyden address is concerned there is more context in understanding his audience than trying to interpret his words.., today.

I did not elaborate because I have addressed this same issue with Farsight in the past. It gets tiresome..!

In 1920 when Einstein gave that address, GR had been published for only four years. Do you believe that, in just four years GR had been incorporated into the university's course work? Even if that were the case it would most likely only have been a mention in post graduate work. It certainly would not have been part of undergraduate course work.

With that understanding, what do you think the theoretical background of the students and staff was? It was very much the same as what Einstein's had been, when he was working toward his degree. They were working from a conceptual background that was rooted in an understanding of the AETHER as defined in the 1800s. Einstein was attempting to present a completely new and fundamental way of approaching reality and gravitation.., that did not include the aether.

He spoke about GR in a context that made sense to people who KNEW that the aether exists, though by that time they knew that it could not or had not been detected and measured.

So the point was and is that context is not always found in the words. It is very often more significantly part of the conceptual background of the time.
