well the harsh reality of the situation is that the ME could never exist without the help of western influence. They are totaly dependant on western technology.education right down to the Mc donalds burgers (Infidel Burgers :D ).
Even if the West totally left the ME alone, The arab-moslem countries would still need them back coz they never could stand on their own two feet and never have in the past.

Bottomline is that they are totally dependant on the west. And that's the sad truth!

Sure but the oil is not going anywhere is it?

The United States had the unique opportunity after the British to wield their power and influence in a region that (in that point of time in history) looked up to them as the greatest and most influential country in the world built on the principles of liberty and equality for all.

They expected that the US would enable them to reach the same heights.

Sadly, the last 50 years of US interventions have left them broken and bloodied and with a distasteful experience of Western democracy.

This, more than anything else is a failure of the principles that the United States claims to stand for.

Why dont you read the history of Iraq?

Read how it was divided? By whom? For what purpose?

Who put Saddam in power and armed him?

And yes, NOW its a mess. Was it always like that?

Palestine is a mess now. So is Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia.

Were they always like that?

These are people leo and they've lost faith and hope.

You read the article and tell me if they are or they are not.

I assume you can read without someone holding your hand?

My opinion is not important here.

What do YOU think?

gee sam i guess saddams slaughter of 1000s of muslims, many of whome were women and children, doesn't leave a bad taste in muslims mouths.

Hi Leopold,

i hope all is well.

If the US had a coherent plan after they destroyed all the infastructure, political and security apparatus of the country then we would not be in this mess....

Muslim on muslim violence is wrong, just like nonmuslim on muslims viloence and vice versa is worng.

I imagine that the sunnis are attacking the shias becuiase they see them as a US back puppet governement....

Shia on Sunni, is beacuse the sunnis used to be the pwoer behind iraq.... this is all violence which could ahve been avoided but for a lack of a co0eherent post blowing up startegy from the US.

Listen guys Iraq has no functioning infastructure.

Why do you think so?

Do you remember how the US troops were greeted by the Iraqis?

And you forget, the dictators suppress every voice that speaks out against them.

I'm not saying the US was wrong to take out Saddam, but why support him to begin with?

and whats wrong with that?
a US backed government turned japan into a world class economy.

another example is south korea
here are 2 countries, north and south korea.
same people, same continent, same resources, same culture.
south korea flourishes under democratic rule while the north ruled by a dictator flounders.

so you can't use that as an excuse to murder one another.

Was there oil being pumped out by the US in any of these places ? NO

The British left India completely in 1947.

But they did not leave the ME even after "giving them" independence, not until the US took over from them and after that the US has continued where they left off.

How many dictators did the US install in these other countries?

Yes your opinion is important here since you are the one making the claim that the problems we see in islamic countries are all the fault of the west. I ask again: are you contending that all dictators in all islamic countries are the fault of the west?
I assume you can answer a question without someone holding your hand?

in japan the emperor was nothing more than a rubber stamp boss for the US
every member of the parliment had to be approved by the US.

Is the US still approving the MPs in Japan?

And Japan was already a developed country, before WWII.

No comparison.
