I prefer to use excel because I can work with unlimited screen (scroll down,
scroll right), then when it's finished, just set the page set up: fit to 1 page
wide by 1 tall.

To remove the gridlines, just go to Tools --> Options --> uncheck the gridlines option.

Ah yes, I see, I prefer having only the screen width, though when I use powerpoint for graphs and such, I usually have it one page wide and tall as well.
