"Conservatives, who believe women should be shielded from strange men, say driving will allow a woman to leave home whenever she pleases and go wherever she wishes. Some say it will present her with opportunities to violate Islamic law, such as exposing her eyes while driving or interacting with strange men, like police officers or mechanics.

Would you agree that this is the lesser of two evils or simply another thinly guised ploy in favor of repression and control?

Islamic Society does not have the proper understanding of the role of Women. Without the figure of Christ as a model on how to treat women, Islam shall always have distortions, just like the neo-pagans do, who use women for their own pleasures.

I think that it's the lesser of two human enablers.
