The great flood!

What proof is there that the great flood did or didn't happen?

For example proof it didn't happen could be that salt water would have covered the earth and therefore we would be able to detect this.

What other solid proof or dis-proof is there?

Well Alex, if you mean a truly global flood, then yes, we would expect to see huge evaporite deposits over the world's arid regions. We should see clastic deposits and erosional structures. The fact that such a flood did not occur is evidenced by unique ecosystems persisting in isolated bodies of water, and by the distribution and survival of non-marine organisms. Not least are the questions of where the water came from, how it all got into the sky, and where it went. I'm sure there are many, many more lines of evidence that people will provide.
