What if we learn how to manipulate particles, in a way that we can create anything from simply basic compund molocules. We can already create a potato by manipulating the atoms of oxygen, water, and soil. So what will happen if we can manipulate atoms of air to create weapons and what not.

 :)

Pretty hard stuff to do so i wouldn't worry about that now but yea it can be extremely harmful and powerful tool in the wrong or "right?" hands.

hmmm...we cant actually create a potato. The soil, oxygen, water, etc are just there. The life has to be there before. We can put life in a positon to do what we are pretty sure it will do under the circumstances (example: grow a potato) but we are in no way creating the potato.

moralists will die

Simple, those who debate ethics and morals will be killed by those who don't. If you think a weapon is immoral, you will be killed by someone who uses it and doesn't care about morals.

The only ones who will be capable (technologicaly and economicaly) to use this method will be the ones who possess and manufacture weapons already. So nothing will change.

nano goops, resins and fogs

Are you thinking about a kind of biotech, eg. manipulation of existing organisms (potato) to create other live stuff? Or some kind of nanoscale 3D printer?

How about that utility fog -- that stuff sounds so fun and scary...
