As well as being rare, the likes of the walking coffin fish, the wonky-eyed squid and the Pacific spookfish are also spectacularly ugly.

Nice no? These rare animals are killed to be shown to the public... a great to way to protect them :rolleyes:
 
Your right about it being counter effective catching the rare animals but at least its for a good cause. Which is making sure no one else catches even more of these animals.

Also if some weren't caught we wouldn't no they existed at all. They also might be influenced by the polution that is acumulating in some parts of the oceans. So before they get even more endangered its good to learn about them so maybe it the future we can better protect them.:)
