We had a problem with a Muslim political leader here that was using her soapbox to push her own religious agenda.
This type of behavior from a public official is disgusting and she was forced by our president to apologize twice. Her first apology was ambiguous, so the president got involved and sorted it out:
South Africa has a secular government, and we condemn both sides for their actions in the Middle East.. we also offer aids to both sides and have hundreds of doctors in Palestine and Israel.
The Jewish Board of Deputies has filed a complaint of hate speech against Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Fatima Hajaig with the South African Human Rights Commission.
In a statement on Wednesday, the board said the complaint was in response to Hajaig's alleged statements during an address in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg, on January 14.
She allegedly said: "They [Jews] control [America], no matter which government comes into power, whether Republican or Democratic, whether Barack Obama or George Bush ...
"Their control of America, just like the control of most Western countries, is in the hands of Jewish money and if Jewish money controls their country then you cannot expect anything."

The South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) is satisfied with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fatima Hajaig's second apology, made after President Kgalema Motlanthe held "discussions" with her, it said on Thursday.
This followed a furore over alleged anti-Semitic statements made by Hajaig at a rally in Lenasia last month.
"The SAJBD commends President Motlanthe and his Cabinet for ensuring that Deputy Foreign Minister Fatima Hajaig has now made an unequivocal apology for, and full retraction of the unacceptable anti-Semitic statements," the board saidin a statement.
"The SAJBD thanks President Motlanthe and his Cabinet for the decisive and forthright manner in which they have addressed this serious matter."
The board rejected a previous apology made by the deputy minister as"she had very clearly avoided addressing, let alone repudiating, the blatantly anti-Semitic sentiments originally expressed by her". -- Sapa
