Stem cell scientist Haruko Obokata has agreed to retract one of what Nature called "the biggest science papers of the year."

The paper, published by Nature in January 2014, is on dedifferentiating ordinary cells into STAP "acid bath" stem cells via coffee-mild acid. The Riken Institute found numerous instances of scientific misconduct with respect to one of the papers. When recently pioneering cloner Teru Wakayama found problems with the second paper, Obokata agreed to seek retraction. An interview with Wakayama can be found at Bioscience Technology.com under title: "Cloner Finds New "Acid Bath" Paper Errors; Scientist OKs Retraction." Links to both the Nature papers can be found there. Nature's recent story on these papers is titled "Lead author agrees to retract controversial stem-cell paper."

The Scientific Method in action. Unlike belief systems scientific "revelations" are subjected to strict review and frauds are discovered and exposed, their reputations ruined and their careers truncated. Would that we could do that for Pat Robertson's latest brain fart.
