Star Trek has had its moments, but its not half as thrilling as Star Wars. Star Wars has got more street cred with "Empire.." under its belt, though the Phantom Menace was a kick in the balls.
Mind you, Star Trek had the Borg, which were pretty cool. The problem is that Star Trek has turned into a sausage machine, churning out episodes by the dozens to meet a franchise requirement. The Next Generation was my favourite, but when you have a series with 22 episodes a season for about 7 years about a crew on a starship, there's really only so many stories you can tell. To have another series with a crew on a....space station (DS9), and another series about another crew on a starship (VGR), and a new series about, um, another crew on another starship (Enterprise), you end up mauling the concept to death. Plus the fact the concept was developed in the 60's for the original series , as well as the movies, and an animated series...
I cant be the only one thats bored to death of seeing starfleet officers planet-hopping through the galaxy. What kind of concepts would other Star Trek fans like to see? Something based on Earth perhaps? Or maybe a short series focused on a particular subject matter, perhaps a series that has nothing to do with space travel at all. Come on, Star Trek is supposed to be a sci-fi show, theres a ton of things that the series has covered which could be done in more depth (e.g. Time Travel, Artificial Intelligence, Klingon warrior culture etc.)
