Something to Think About

This is something to think about!

Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages.

The following verse is from the Quran, (the Islamic Bible)

Quran (9:11) -- For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

(Note the verse number!!!!!)

I received this in e-mail. I have no personal knowledge of passages from the Quran or of the specific passage referenced. Perhaps those knowledgeable here in such matters can say if this is a passage and if the passage is 9:11.

Just courious.

okinrus,

hmmmmm. Thanks. It would be a shame if it isn't true. Makes a good tale.

Thanks

Note that only Americans put the date backwards with the month first.

Most of world would have used 11/9.

Unfortunately the quote doesn't appear in the Quran.

The 3 transalations of 9.11 are -

009.011
YUSUFALI: But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand.
PICKTHAL: But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge.
SHAKIR: But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

And 11.9 gives -

011.009
YUSUFALI: If We give man a taste of Mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy.
PICKTHAL: And if we cause man to taste some mercy from Us and afterward withdraw it from him, lo! he is despairing, thankless.
SHAKIR: And if We make man taste mercy from Us, then take it off from him, most surely he is despairing, ungrateful.

Cris,

Thanks for the information. It would appear this e-mail is somebodies fabrication.

Thanks.

everneo,

Hi Mac,

Einstein would have certainly read Quran before quoting it.

ANS: This statement is invalid. (not that I might not be Einstein - kidding) but that I didn't quote the Quran. I stated I knew nothing about it and had received this e-mail and was asking those that do know the Quran about its (the e-mail's). validity.

It seems to be a hoax. A shame in a way since that sort of "Priori" would have given me cause to consider the Quran.

Thanks.

The statement is not invalid.

since you are very much concerned with validity of statements by as little guy like me and as great guy like Einstein, you shoud have also checked the validity of the email contents. anyway i am not interested in carrying out your einstein bashing here also. btw, dont't hate to consider reading Quran. it has very good points to ponder. who knows, you may get some cranky ideas from that too.:D

If the above verse was in the Quran, then it would mean that Mohammed, really, had seen the future!

ANS: That is nonesense. I knew there would be people here that would know the truth in this matter. You think I want to spend several weeks if not months trying to read the Quran to check this out. This was not only much more efficient but gives those with a horse in the race an chance to see what is being said and respond to it correctly.

anyway i am not interested in carrying out your einstein bashing here also.

ANS: Who brought Einstien into this in the first place. It sure wasn't me. More importantly just how have I bashed Einstien here. I see no such thing.

btw, dont't hate to consider reading Quran. it has very good points to ponder.

ANS: Don't see where I said I hated or would hate to read the Quran either. I won't but that is not directed at the Quran. I don't care to read the Bible either. That is a personal choice. I don't hold it against those that do.

who knows, you may get some cranky ideas from that too.

ANS: Here seems to be the truth in your jposts you are prejudiced against anything I might say or do anywhere because you don't like my position regarding Relativity. My, My aren't we thin skinned.

That conclusion would certainly have been enhanced.

Quran (9:11) or (11:9) won't take weeks to read for most of the people.

ANS: First that isn't what you said. You said;

Einstein would have certainly read Quran before quoting it.

Second I would have to have found them. I looked on the web and all I found were alphabetical listing of topics showing verse numbers but they ar not in sequence. I spenet 20 minutes scanning the many many pages and decided it was not something I cared to do.

Third what the hell is your problem with having posted the string and noting that it was an e-mail and ask those that know if it was real.

You seem to have a burr where it is uncomfortable. Ler me suggest you have that checked out.

Nice wisdom!
But it is only half the truth as well.
Because believing requires no intelligence at all. It's like gambling, just taking chances and making risky choices of being completely wrong.

AAF,

Why the frown?

ANS: I have no arguement with the above. This is my signature file not a position on the topic posted.:D

The 'frown'!!!
In any case, I was wrong. The 'Eagle Verse' would not have meant that the Moslim Messiah had seen the future.
It would have meant only that it was a self-fulfilling prophecy on the part of his followers.
