That's not true, though. Virtually everyone who comes here and claims to be female gets some serious attention. Sandoz, Varda, Sam, Tor, etc.

This is not unique to sciforums. One may expect this type of behavior on all forums dominated by heterosexual men. On a seperate forum I post, newly registered female members are constantly called trolls. We do the same around here, only we are a bit more mature about it.
