So what else could evolution do for us?

Whither from here, then?

Less fingers?
Lose our teeth?
Will we all look
like Yasmin Bleeth?

What does the future hold for human evolution? More genetic disease? Well, give us a double helping mother may I.

What if we simultaneously changed to egg-laying and different relative growth rates?

Perfection is a meaningless concept in evolution.

ok then, how about communion and eternal life?

OR we can just keep doing the same stupid destructive shit over and over and over and over...

Communion with nature is already ubiquitous. Eternal life would be torture, life needs death to survive. Creation needs destruction, they are the ultimately same process that is why Christianity is so wrong, it mistakenly paints a picture of opposing eternally warring factions. This is what leads to all of it's disfunctional attitudes about death. Instead of embracing death as a fact of nature, it eliminates it in favor of eternal life, an elaborate scheme of denial.

eternal life would only be torture in the biological form that we exist in now. i don't enjoy suffering and sickness and torture and loneliness and war and hate and greed. those things that make this "generation" so infamous. and i don't see a need for the death of one human to perpetuate the life of another human. like dude says above, we'll be starting over. i believe our bodies and therefore our existence will be very different from the way it is now. no need to place limits on our potential. why people want to cling to this shitty cesspool of suffering is really beyond me.

Well we could download our brains into a computer, which could be perfect, and live in a perfect virtual world full of pleasure and no pain. We wouldn't even destroy nature, because the entire world's population could live in one small box.

how do you download a brain into a computer, and what would happen to our bodies?

wouldn't it just be easier to fix what's wrong with our bodies?

plus, if we download our brains into a computer, we're just going to ruin that virtual world. garbage in...garbage out. right?

You said our bodies are the problem, so if we didn't have bodies, we could be perfect. It might not happen right away, but we wouldn't be subject to hormones or other biological imperatives like being territorial. A virtual would could be infinite in virtual area, so each of us could live in their own paradise.

our brains are part of our bodies. and besides, i don't want virtuality, i want reality.

The possibility, not probability. I have no hope for evolutionary development, as human culture and technology is outpacing evolution by orders of magnitude. Evolution is usually extremely slow.

Until human culture and technology results in cataclysmic disaster that is.

See spider, it'll all work out in the end. :)

Mod note: I’ve made a lot of deletions in this thread in order to give it a chance and avoid sending it straight to the Cesspool. But if people start discussing religion, then that’s where it’s going ...... immediately.

I think it happens whenever we reproduce. It renews the body and allows us to adapt to thinks like parasites and diseases.

Duly noted.

So spider, what in the world is so far out about the idea of progressing through evolution to a perfect state of human existence?
