Debate on the ethics of school scripture

School ethics classes spark debate

Ethics taught without religion?!?! Who'd have thunk it? And, who would have ever guessed that there'd be a religious backlash

I find it fantastic that societies are finally beginning to address these issues seriously. The plan, as I understand it, aims for a future where secular ethics are taught from elementary through to the completion of primary studies. A GREAT first step. And it seems that when asked, there's a massive amount of public support for secular ethics. I hope that the next step, in a decade or even half a generation, will be to teach secular-based religious archeology along side ethics and history.

I think that the beginnings of this concept should start as a person becoming self aware of themselves so they can begin to trust a moral compass instead of basing a belief system off of what is "considered" (regular norms set about to explain right and wrong) good or bad, right or wrong, etc. When you can look past things collectivley then you can make sound, ethical desicions based off the wisdom you have obtained about your own belief system (i.e. you).
