Senate passes bill to outlaw sex with animals
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Having sex with animals could soon be outlawed in Florida.

The Senate unanimously passed a bill (SB 448) Tuesday that would make it a third degree felony for anyone to have sex with an animal. A similar bill in the House has not been debated on the floor.

Florida is one of 16 states without a law banning bestiality.
Admirable, protection for animals from perverts, but don't legislators have real problems to deal with, like the crashing economy, runaway crime, war criminals in high places?

Bestiality is disgusting, but I don't get how it is the gov't's business to legislate morals or behavior.

If a certain party is being harmed by the behavior of others then who else can regulate it, but an authoritative figure?

I agree with you CutsieMarie, but there are some morals that we legislate that make no sense. Prostitution, marijuana, gay marriage, prohibition at one time and so forth.

Though I don't object to laws prohibiting drinking and driving and such.

Because behavior affects the well-being of those who can't defend themselves. That's like saying, "How dare the government tell me I can't beat my retarded sister! They're legislating morals and behavior!"

There's an argument to be made that protecting the weak prevents evolution.
Of course, I wouldn't be alive if that weren't the case.... If everything was dictated by physical force, I'd support the second amendment.

Get on this ....

You know ... we recently passed a bestiality bill in Washington state. And as a friend pointed out, "Well, we never really needed one before this."

And what was this? Only that morbid case most of you have already heard about far too many times in which a man died while having sex with a horse. The only charge ever filed was against the guy who videotaped the incident. He was charged with trespassing.

Wow. I mean, nifty. Er, neat-o. I mean ... what?

Consent does not apply to other animals because those animals do not posess the mental capacity to even understand the concept.
