I was thinking about the way superheroes improve on their weaknesses all the time whenever they make mistakes. Look at how Batman kicks ass with robots whenever he gets beaten up physically by Bane or Predator. Or how Ironman was crippled and used his engineering brilliance and manufacturing division to invent a suit light years ahead of his present technology.

Suppose that we get caught up in our problems and issues for a few years. Then we improve and go beyond it. Why do we always set ourselves back by reminiscing about issues of the past even when there's nothing left to care or be curious about?

You are extrapolating a general condition from a particular, personal observation. Since I have not experienced this tendency I am unable to comment upon it.

I think this is essentially because we think that our happiness comes from the world being a certain way, from other people being a certain way.

And when the world and other people are not a certain way, and we keep thinking that our happiness depends on them being a certain way
-- this is when we think of them over and over again.

And when we so think of them, we remove ourselves from the present, from the present tasks and challenges -- hence the setbacks.

I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A SUPER HERO....

and batman was the best..... why???

cause he was just a man..... a highly trained man....

no special powers.... just big balls.

that is all a super hero needs.... balls... and cool technology...

if we forget the past we are condemned to repeat it (old Jungle Saying)

Are you implying the possibility that psychological temperament is a contributing factor to evolution? In my own belief, we reminiscent of the past because it is our minds way of dealing with Entropy, that omnipresent property which cannot be utilized for good-work. But there are also many applicable and vital functions that our memory serves for, obviously.

We reminisce about the past because it is much easier than reminiscing about the future.

One could argue that reminiscing about the past is just a biological preset. It helps us live from day to day. But then it is also enforced by society.
