I'm so surprised.

I understand, though, that true tantric practices are more like Buddhist meditation, not magic.
 
It was a fix: obviously some sceptic switched the peacock feathers for fakes. :D
 
It was the protection of the great, but easily confused, god Ske P'tic.

This is often the cause for the unexpected failure of magic.
 
I am surprised that the magician accepted the challenge without a Plan B like slipping poison into his victim's water or perhaps using a small hypodermic.

I would be a bit nervous about making such a challenge. Fanatic believers could take some unexpected actions.
