Ruzzle/Riddle Thread

A house has two windows in the front. Each window is square, 3 feet high and 3 feet wide. But still one window is twice as large as the other. How is this possible?

I think I worked it out so if you are still guessing dont read on.!!

Is one window tilted? That is, if one was tilted at a 45 degree angle then it would be smaller than the larger window but still the same height and width.
 
How many people have to be present in a room if all but 2 are named Stone, all but 2 are named Baines, and all but 2 are named Wilkinson?

I would have thought 3. But if it isn't 3 then might it be 2?

Just say Me and my Brother are in a room, then all but 2 people are called Stone, Baines and Wilkinson. So there would only have to be 2 people.

But somehow this doesn't sit right with me. It is a strange way to word the question.

it's 2 persons the logics is

eg. XXSSBBWW
where (all with the exception of two) must be called S:
thus XXSSBBWW must actually be XXSSSSSSS
(which is impossible because <b>all</b> other present must also be called B and W
 
A man just bought a 2.1 meters long foot fishing rod. The store put it in a long package, slightly more than 2.1 meters long the man stepped on the bus to go home, but the driver said that you are not allowed to bring any package on the bus that is more then 2 meters long. The man went back in the shop, and couple of minutes later got on the bus and went happily home with his fishing rod. What did they do in the store?

You cannot (not even slightly) bend the rod
 
Thomo these are high difficulty puzzles, employ your brains, you showed high capacity thinking in the past...

edited: rod is one piece of absulutely non-bendable material.
 
They put it in a square package with the rod along one of the diagonals.

The square package would then be shorter than the rectangular one and he would be allowed on the bus.

I think I heard this one as a lateral thinking puzzle.

PS. Even better: They put it in a CUBE package with the rod along the diagonal. The Cube would be even shorter! (but obviously higher).
 
Nice to see that some would dare to bend their fishing rod in the shape of a cube.

I would not want to be the one who opens that package.

Well, i got an opinion which argues nicely that the correct answer can also be 3 because:

S., the other 2 (W and B)
W., the other 2 (s and B)
B., the other 2 (W and s)

it seem all right - thus 3 is correct too.
 
Dilbert, the rod is not bent, it is along the diagonal of a cube of side length less than 2m.

ProCop, based on the way the question is worded, 3 is the 'natural' answer, but like oxymoron says, you could argue for two people, which is the minimum necessary.

About the window question: wouldn't 45?????° make the window sqrt2 times as large? It would have to be at 60° to the vertical to be twice as large. And even so, I still prefer my answer - the larger window is twice as thick :D

Well the window could also be of a round shape eg. build in tower-like relief in the front of the house but is beats me if such semi-barrell-window would comply in being twice the size of the flat window....
 
Okay, another physicsy one here:
We have a jar full of water, with a ping pong ball attached by a string to the bottom of the jar. If you push the jar forwards suddenly, what does the ping pong ball do?
