Ronald Reagan

I have been reading a few quotes by Ronald Reagan and the general impression that I get is that he isn't stupid (unlike the current president).

What was Ronald Reagan really like? Can we come to a conclusion after so much water has passed under the bridge?

reagan was integral in creating an amicable atmosphere with the soviets.
that alone shows how intelligent he was.

although, he DID call them the "evil empire"....

look what he did to khaddaffi...blew up his house, killed his wife, his kids...even his fucking DOG.

but libyans stopped terrorizing americans, didnt they?

"if you want to make an omelette, sometimes you have to kill some people."

I liked Reagan -- real charismatic. I love checking out some of his letters he wrote and other goodies at his library. That's the most important ability of a president, to be charismatic. Everything else is basically left up to your cabinet members; they do all the work and influence you in a certain direction to make your decision on.

Rotting Reagan bankrupted the nation to ensure social programs were slashed and was a union buster. The only union he liked was Solidarity in Poland, of course. He lifted the rock that released the religious right on America. He financed terrorism in latin America that killed tens of thousands, supported murderous miltary dictatorships and laughed at AIDS until it spread like wildfire. He bypassed Congress to launder money through Khomeini's Iran and sent hundreds of marines to their deaths in Lebanon in support of the death squads killing Palestinian refugees. He wasn't thought of highly by even his own kids who had nothing to do with him, till he died. Then one of his sons jumped onto 3rd Reich radio and repeatedly oozed over him. Reagan wasn't the fool we have now. He was rotten to the core and knew what he was doing. May he rot where he lies.

Anyone is smart compared to the shrub. Reagan was an evil son of a bitch, and a traitor to our country.

If Shrub is so dumb, how come you folks have never been a Governor, let alone a Pres?

For that matter, a Yale and a Harvard businees school graduate?

Oh, that's right: Yale and Harvard will pass any ol' dolt and hand them a degree.

Well, except for you guyz. ;)

Do you actually support him?

How do you know we haven't? ;)

Was it intelligence that made George president, or was it his connections?

If one is a member of the ruling class, like someone from the Bush Dynasty you can be anything you want, with a wink and a handshake. So Bush was a cheerleader at Yale, tee-hee. His familiy oil dynasty is passed to him and he enters politics. Tee-hee. I'm no Einstein but I'll wager a vast majority of posters right here at SF have a higher general knowledge IQ than our embarrassing idiot of a president. If you are from an oil baron family you can be anything, even if you can't spell or conjugate.

Exactly. We know he had enough connections to dodge the draft.

Sure, that's how he got into the National Guard instead of Vietnam, and got away with going AWOL.

At least Clinton joined the massive protests that stopped the war.

He's never been my first choice, but he has been useful.

All you folks just love to go off on him -- just like greyhounds racing after a mechanical fake rabbit.

Y'all are useful in the same way, too. ;)

Um, just a wild guess, I guess.

Yes. An at least two elections.

Useful to the oil industry? The defense contractor industry? Useful to Islamic fundamentalists? The Religious Right? Military coffin manufacturers? Israel?

Useful to those of us with an agenda or two not shared by your and yours. ;)

I would have thought he's single handedly managed to convince the world that the US is filled with paranoid, media hypnotised, ill-informed, religious war mongers.

Not to mention the massive increase in the national debt and the exposure of so many young men to war and violence (which in itself has other far reaching psychological effects).

All of the while committing unbelievable faux pas in public (the massage of the German Chancellor comes immediately to mind).

This is a man who represents the most powerful nation in the world today?

Ahh! You're anti-abortion? Anti-science? You are Christian? You despise the environment? You hate Cindy Sheehan? Just guessing. I can't think of a single thing about him that is positive.
