There is now an increasing assortment of build-your-own robot kits on the market, from beginner to advanced university teaching products.

Does anyone here own any of these and can comment on their experiences?

I'm looking to buy the $3K advanced kit from Robotis.
 
I've never owned a kit and never heard of Robotis, but after checking out their website, I'm liking the servos/actuators they are offering.

I'm not liking the lack of detail on the shopping part of the site however. For example, their are no specs listed on the wireless camera (how many megapixels is it?).
 
Any kit that teaches subjunctive logic would be a good starter. Back in collage I remember reading about insect robots and how subjunctive logic was used in their construction.

Lego in my view is the best for experimentation in robotics. A great range of sensors, blue tooth so you can easily control it via computer. Plus via a controlling computer you can interface almost anything.

It does suffer from a little slack (mechanically) but good design can produce accurate machines.

It is a great cheap option to explore robotics and robotic programing.

Chris, have you had any luck with your kit (or search therof)?
 
lego mindstorm.
all what i can say is that i've no where near fully exploited its full potential.

i think it's excellent for starters, very versatile and simple, yet full of possibilities.
