Apparently Tea Party Candidate travels with his own goon squad who arrested and handcuffed a reporter who tried to ask questions of the Republican/Tea Party candidate.

I was not aware that senate candidates traveled with their own security force. That is unusual.

Unfortunately is is not unusual to see Republican/Tea Party candidates run from/avoid reporters (e.g, Angle, O'Donnell, Rand).

This is yet another in an ever more curious crop of Republican/Tea Party candidates this year. Let us not forget Republican candidate Paladino who threatened a reporter who asked a question he would rather not answer.

If these Republicans/Tea Partiers are elected to office is this how they will govern....with goon squads, threats and avoidance of the media (Fox News exempted)?

Hodges continued, "After 8 years in the Hawaii government employees' union and the police union myself, I am very sympathetic to the needs and fears of union rank and file. It's sad that a few union bosses have chosen to pit us union members against each other and against the parents and the public in order to further the government employee union's control of Hawaii's Legislature." Hodges concluded "We need solutions, not street fights. That's why Hawaii TEA Party is working with PTA's to keep our classrooms open on the furlough days using community volunteers. The long-term solution is to get our economy going again. And that requires tax cuts and removing useless government red tape."

An enraged supporter of President Barack Obama attacked former congressional candidate Nathan Tabor during a Tea Party demonstration in North Carolina -- and the entire episode was captured on videotape.

According to Tabor, who appeared Saturday on Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends," on Tuesday, the North Carolina Tea Party Patriots were holding a legal political protest against government bailouts. The Tea Partiers were in front of Rep. Mel Watt's (D-N.C.) Greensboro, NC office to voice their opposition.

During what cops characterized as a peaceful protest, an enraged man, later identified as Governor Spencer began to hurl vulgarities, disrupted the protest, argued with individuals and then became physically violent.

The videotape shows Governor Spencer punching the Chairman of the Forsyth County (NC) Republican Party, Nathan Tabor, a North Carolina business owner and a former candidate for the U.S. Congress and the state senate

Investigation reveals that Governor Spencer is a union organizer, a socialist and a black liberation activist. According to political activist Bill Gheen, Spencer led the Greensboro K-Mart protests of 1995 and mobilized families, communities, and "the Pulpit Forum of Greensboro, a coalition of progressive clergy, to commit acts of civil disobedience."

"The punch to Nathan Tabor's face in front of his wife and crying child was an assault on all Americans that value free speech and freedom to assemble. We call on President [Barack] Obama to publicly speak out against this violence conducted by one of his supporters against his political opposition," said Gheen, the president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC).

"We also call on the US Justice Department to file charges against Governor Spencer for violating Mr. Tabor's civil rights and violating the civil rights of all Tea Party supporters and Americans who wish to speak out against the President without fear of violent reprisals," Gheen said in statement released today.

Following the assault -- caught on videotape -- Tabor went to the magistrate's office with police and a magistrate issued an arrest warrant for Governor Spencer.

This thread is about a Senate candidate hiring a private security firm who detained and handcuffed a reporter in a public school for asking said candidate some questions about his history. To make matters worse for the candidate and his hired goons, the goons weren't even licensed.

A minor detail from mr. buffalo roam...not to mention he is citing right wing web blogs again who are just repeating the right wing mythology of "the evil union thugs" regardless of the merits of the story.

This crop of Republican/Tea Party candidates is the strangest I have ever seen. And their tendency to restort to threats and actual acts of aggression combined with their avoidance of the non Fox media is down right scary.

Ted Kennedy supports gun control, his bodyguard was detained for carrying a machine pistol into the Capitol. A machine pistol a machine gun, a Uzi, this was, of course, in Washington DC, where private citizens cannot own handguns of any kind. The bodyguard also had a handgun.

Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has a permit to carry a concealed handgun, but she thinks that right only applies to Her, and not the little people.

Can you prove any of these allegations? I know they are popular on right wing extremist web sites. But none of them that I have seen, offer any proof of claim.

This just shows that more ballots need a "none of the above" option.
 
Well I think it is a serious issue when candidates for public office refuse to answer questions put to them by the press. It is even more serious when legitimate questions are met with threats and physical and legal intimidation...this is all before said candidates taking office.

If they are this bad now before taking public office, can you imagine how bad they could be after assuming public office?

Its known as an ad homineim tu quoque fallacy, a failure of logic noted and categories by philosophers thousands of years ago, the fact people still use it is testimony to the irrationality and stupidity of the human race.

I guess you would have us all sitting around being like mushrooms...feeding and existing off the shit given to us each day. Maybe you were not raised to be a good citizen, but I was. And maybe you don't give a shit about the country, but I do. And until the good Lord shuts me up, I am going to exercise my right to free speech. And I am going to do my damndest to protect this country from those who would do it harm.
 
I second spidergoat, I don't vote democrat because I think they are the beenees, no I vote for them simply because they are the lesser of two evils at present. Although in my state we do have a third party candidate for goverenor that I'm interested in voting for his chances are nil with only 15% of the vote according to polls, and I really do like his ideas on tax reform (not cuts) what a shame. The democrat is in the lead but I honestly don't like many of his policies they just happen to be more palatable than his republican counterpart.
 
The reality is that we live in a two party system. I think most people are upset with both parties and there is more than enough blame to spread around on each party. But the choice the nation now faces is sanity versus insanity.

Unfortunately, the nation has been a little off its rocker these last 10 years. The nation has been run into the ground and we have a choice to make....even more insanity or a return to less insane times. I'd rather go back to less insane times myself.

The bottom line is if the American voter every wants a chance at badly needed reform in Washington, it is not going to happen at the hands of the Tea Party or Republicans. The candidates they running on the Republican ticket are pretty whacked out and down right scary. I would much rather have Harry Reid in the Senate than his Republican challenger. At least Reid does not run from the press and has some sound ideas about government...though I think Democrats and the nation would be better served with a stronger leader in the Senate. But no matter how you cut it Reid is better than Angle hands down.

So why do you think that the people who know him best, his state voters, apparently disagree?

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds Angle with 50% to Reid’s 47%.
