Read an article back in 2007 how scientists discovered a frozen mammoth and plan to genetically engineer a mammoth. Its been over 3 years now whats the update ? are any closer to bringing extinct animals back to life ?

I read an article a couple of weeks ago that they (China? India? Japan?) were working on it.

I am a vegetarian but I wouldn't mind eating a mammoth steak!

I woudn't mind a breakfast with some dodo eggs myself either.
I belief you mean this article

Their managed to clone a mouse using a specimen that had been frozen for 16 years, the trouble is this mouse was frozen under lab conditions, that means it was frozen really fast afther dead and then kept at a constant temprature to prevent DNA damage. None of these preserving techniques happen to the death animals outside. So will they ever be able to clone a animal by simply cloning it and hoping for the best I doubt it. First they have to find a way to repair the damaged DNA

If they did bring back a wooly mammoth he might suffer from depression and feel so lonely in a world without fellow mammoths :-(
