It finally rained in Atlanta soon after a public prayer session. I'm not saying the prayers were the reason for the rain but they sure did follow close on the echo of the last amen.
Much-needed rain was falling across portions of Metro Atlanta late Wednesday night, as a cold front made its way across the southeastern United States.
According to 11Alive chief meteorologist Paul Ossmann, the rains could amount to a quarter to a half-inch over much of the area overnight and into the day on Thursday.
The rain will not put a significant dent into the drought that has gripped the region, but will provide some much-needed rain on yards and gardens throughout north Georgia.
Temperatures on Thursday are expected to drop behind the cold front, going to a low by early Friday morning around the freezing mark. Temps are expected to moderate through the weekend.
