Race clashes hit Windsor

well i am british and they are mauritian.. So why wouild i want to live there..

mauritus is amde up of the following groups/religions

48% hindu (approx)
17% Muslim (approx)
30% Christian (catholics and Protestants)
5% Others (mainly chinese)

the hindus and muslims came from India (mainly gujrat), the Christians from Africa and the chinese from China... Thats quite multi cultural to me.. they all seem to get on fine.. maurtius is a very small island, (about the size of surrey) of 1.5 million people..

My sister lived there for 3 years and she seemed to really enjoy it though... however i doubt i could thats all.

A multicultural society welcomes and accomadates all cultures - so why did you say you couldn't live there because YOUR culture is completely different.

Where there's a beach, vega will set sail!...never been to Mauritus but since you mentioned it I will have check it out with my travel agent once I get home.

there are some real nice beaxches down their?? and still some which are quite isolated and not full of tourists.... You should definitely go down their when you have the chance. i dont know how long it will atke though.

sTU... I was just telling vega about why i dont like the word paki being floated around and how i am half mauritian... It was a response to Vegas posts not a response to one of yours, perhaps if vega thought i was being contradictory he would have picked me up on it...

I really try to be as even handed as possible in light of the fact that i am not a robot, so please can you treat my posts with the respect i give to yours.

So what you were trying to tell Stu was that it was the British lifestyle that you prefer over the one in mauritus regardless of its ethnic background?

yep i do prefer our life style here as opposed to Mauritius

Mauritus has quite a lad back lifestyle, which is nice but when you are trying to get things done can be quite annoying...

I think you get this a lot in these hot islands... Everything is no problem untill they "decide to do it" and when you say to someone lets meet at !:00pm
what they think it meeans is 3:00pm!!!!

Anyway I just want to briefly explain to you that the word "paki" is short for for pakistani!. I'm not sure how long you been living in england since you immigrated here but these are common forms of abbreviations used amongst the south asian folks particularly in densely populated london towns like alperton,wembley,southhall etc.

Many pakistani's refer to themselves as paki's in most communities in england and other countries.
I have alot of pakistani friends I called paki's and they call each other the same as well. Sometimes I call em taliban and they still like it.

So if you need any further clarification on this terminology I will be happy to explain it to you.

‘Paki’ is a derogatory term used for Pakistanis, calling someone a ‘Paki’ is racist. Some Pakistanis do call eachother Pakis but its just like how some Black people call eachother ‘niggas’, there is always some familiarity between them. I have black friends that don’t mind me calling them niggas (though I only do that as a laugh), however it was some stranger it would be a completely different matter.

Could you please stop calling me a Paki, I find it rude and offensive.

Why is the word "Paki" offensive to you?

Why is it racist?

Shall we all exterminate the words like - Limeys, Poms, Yanks, Jocks, Micks, Frogs, I'ties and all the other nicknames used to describe someones nationality.

I have been called a limey - a pommie - thats fine by me - I dont find it offensive or derogatory and certainly not racist.

But what I do find racist, offensive and derogatory is if anyone calls me "White scum" or a "White bastard" - Then I draw a line.

I cant understand your problem with it really - maybe you are a little bit too senstive

The word is disrespectful, racist and used in a derogatory manner therefore I find it offensive. Simple.

It is similar to nigga, kike, gypo and chink. All deeply offensive.
