A cloaking device is not a physical impossibilty. I think one would be highly useful, but not with any piece of equipment that puts out an exhaust. If we're going to use cloaks, we need to perfect an exhaustless form of locomotion. Otherwise, all you'd have to do is follow the trail, plot a little ways in front, and you've got your target.
