Pet spider advice needed

Found a Huntman crawling around the house, and since I've always been interested in arachnids, I decided to keep it as a pet. Everythings going well, it eats the live bugs I imprison in there with it.

Would it be safe to put two or more Huntsmans in the same tank? Or would they eat/attack each other?

THAT IS NOT A PET

ugh my skin is crawling

I'm going to breed them and release them in your house, Swedishfish!
Bwhawhaw!
:D

Nah, they are quite fun to watch when they come out after dark, especially when they are hunting some poor moth or cricket.

Thanks for the site, Idlemind! It is very informative.

eeeeee don't say that! i'm going to have nightmares tonight. by the way, keeping spiders as pets is sick and wrong. i could barely type that.

how big is it?
15 inches.
Oh wait, you're talking about the spider, are you?

Ohh, the largest spider is 8.5cm wide (including legs), and 3.6cm long (including legs, but they weren't spread).

I've noticed something quite fascinating about my spiders.
Sometimes, when a spider approaches another, it bangs it's abdomen on the ground...

Maybe a warning signal, a sign of aggression?

Also, a spider with only 5 legs managed to capture a hiding place from a healthy spider which was twice the size of it!

do be aware that they have very sticky feet (well, good spider grip) and can (annoyingly) wander up glass, plastic and most other materials.

And they can nibble thru fibreglass flyscreen (ever woner what those wear holes were?)

get a reptile mesh lid for your tank, or convince them that they want to stay!

Ewwwww. You are aware that Huntsman spiders can bite, aren't you? Their bite isn't dangerous, but it does hurt for a while.

I've been bitten by one, in my sleep too.
Its so irritating being awoken with pain, and really freaky when you realise it was a spider biting you that woke you up.
I still didn't kill it though, just kind of yelled at it.
It hurts but not as much as a bee sting or anything.

I had a "pet" spider, but really it was just a big spider in my yard with a web that I threw flies at.
I think it was a female orb weaving spider.
It had a real elaborate web which had a special area where it would keep the decapatated heads of the flies I gave it.
My stupid friend put a bigger spider on my spiders web thinking they would fight but my crafty spider just cut off the section of web where that spider was and sent it hurtling to the ground.
That was a triumphant day for me and my spider, and a shameful day for my friend and his spider:D

Bee stings hurt. Probably because I'm a bit allergic to them.

ROFL!
