Partial Birth Lemon-Grapefruit crossbreed?

Hello all:

I live in Redwood City, CA (south of San Francisco) where I
have 2 trees in close proximity, 4 feet apart at the closest.

The Grapefruit popped up out of nowhere, presumably from a
seed dropped from household trash being taken out maybe
20 years ago, now huge and healthy. If so, its descended
from a standard California supermarket grapefruit of that era.

I planted a Eureka lemon tree close by, now producing nicely.
ONE lemon looks like a grapefruit but the peel smells of
definite lemon, no hint of grapefruit odor. It weighs over
13 ounces. My other lemons are around 3 oz. each.

Out of the bottom (opposite end from stem of this giant) it
looks like its giving birth to another deformed lemon
(or whatever). Its overall shape is opposite of a lemon,
not pointed, more like a flattened grapefruit, wide but not tall.
This odd giant appeared on the part of the lemon tree
closest to grapefruit tree.

1) Is it possible they cross-pollinated? I think they blossomed
about the same time this year. Are they that promiscuous?

2) Is this fairly common, or do I have something rare?

3) Should I lock it up in a safe place?

4) Should I just shut up and make lemon pie?
How about saving the seeds? Best way to do that?

Thanks for any help.

Please write soon, it was probably a mistake to pick
the (whatever).

I guess it is possible. They are close relatives and they our hybrids them selves.

Any botanist in the house because I’m not sure the fruit would look deformed, the seed maybe.

If I were you I would look up how to plant the seeds, see if you can grow it and prove that its a hybrid.
