Osama Bin Laden is Dead

How would we know? It was rejected. Note that when Pakistan denied Kasabs Pak connections, the Indian government provided evidence to support its claims. Amazing thing, evidence. Holds up in courts of law.

So they couldn't give him up to the Hague, then? Yeah he would have ended up in US hands 10 mins later, but the Hague would have first needed to determine that it was legal to do so, which involves seeing evidence that you and I aren't privy to.

To the one, there's just some of that going around.

To the other, at some point, yeah, we're going to have to consider the politics of this; Obama has had what some might describe as an enviable week as president.

To Zaphod's third, it would be nice to "be an American for one day", but conspiracy theorists and Obama's conservative critics don't necessarily take the day off, either, whether here at Sciforums, or out in the culture at large.

And we should also consider that being an American involves capitalism, and that there is such a notion as politcal currency. So being a bit crass about the politics before the body has stopped smoking is perfectly American.
Few people are as critical of Obama as me. But, damn it, a job well done is a job well done. Will this increase Obama's capital? He'll yes! But deservedly so.

To be so blindly partisan in the face of an achievement ten years in the making that required the dedicated efforts of our military and intelligence services as well as the efforts of two presidential administrations is disgusting to me. As is any effort to diminish the role president Obama played by those on my side of the aisle.

Today, if only for this one day, I have only one thing to say about President Obama: Well done, sir. You have the nation's gratitude.

Actually we just managed with an open indictment in court with televised evidence. Of course, you cannot provide evidence if you don't have any. Which brings us back to the Sundance Kid being mowed down along with his dialysis unit and buried at sea. Now no one needs to ask what happened. Case closed.

If your standards of proof are so stringent, how about we just pretend OBL never existed in the first place, and no one died last night?

Mhm I have family out there right now and if they die it's their own fault, just like any of your family out there, if they go to war and invade another and and then get a clip in the face then don't cry once you lose them.

I have no sympathy for those who march to war and are the aggressors, family or not they asked for it.

Of course not you only show sympathy for muslims in muslim lands. And to that I say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdLw6BgkrGQ&feature=related

You was speaking as if you were a man of war when you are not.
I never pretended to be a warrior, but I'm aware of some realities of war. I have read the accounts of Navy Seals and "Cold Zero: Inside the FBI Hostage Rescue Team". I have read history.

Since when am I loyal to the crown of any country? we don't pledge allegiance to anything in Engand this isn't America. Why would I invade another country?

Exactly. 'Queen and Country' really doesn't mean much to you which is why I say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdLw6BgkrGQ&feature=related

I wasn't referring to pledging anything. I'm simply pointing out that your concerns are not for the troops nor the victims of terrorism. You should stop sullying the continent with your presence and move where its comfortable. You know muslim lands:rolleyes:

I do live in a muslim land,

East Londonistan.

Some things just seem kind of obvious

Umm sorry seems kinda obvious to me, old guy with failed kidneys inside a compound vs armed troops outside it. Whats the challenge?

You've got about forty troops inside what can reasonably be described as hostile territory, without that government's permission, on a dead or alive retrieval mission.

So how long do you want those forty troops to sit outside the compound? Should they crank up the Cher, or go twenty-first century with the Lady Gaga?

I am once again brought to recall a movie quote I've previously misattributed; it was J. A. Preston as Conn MacCleary, not Joel Grey as Chiun.

"Remember: In, out, like a duck mating."

I just don't see how a bunch of foreign troops sitting around in a garrison town they don't have permission to be in is going to go well. Or is that the point?

This was a military operation; they weren't serving a warrant.

I don't even think you need to ask, but I'd love to see the answer.

My garbage smells sweet compared to the trash and lies of the American government and it's masonic war on islam.

"Masonic war"??????? What the heck are you raving about???? Oh - for a moment there I didn't realize WHO I was talking to. You've done practically nothing since the day you first appeared here but show us time and time again that you know practically NOTHING about anything.:bugeye:

There's just something about East London and angry, disillusioned young men. I think a lot of the radical militant Islamic recruits they get there are just people looking to hit back at the society they feel abandoned them, and organizations like Al Qaeda thrive in those kinds of cesspits.

How many times you been to east london?
