Yeah, spookz, that is a great album...Detox Mansion and Even a Dog Can Shake Hands...Warren Zevon is a most literate wildman and some of his finest work can be found in his two most recent releases. The cat can refer to Lord Byron, Milton, John Wayne and Charlton Heston without a hint of pretension. A doctor asked Zevon how he can face death with such sardonically comedic acceptance. WZ handed the doc "Life'll Kill Ya," and "My Ride's Here." The last two tracks on MRH are heart-breaking, bracing and ultimately inspiring. The array of musical legends who would line-up to be in on a Zevon session is astounding---Dylan; Neil Young; REM; et al. The title cut from "My Ride's Here" reminds me of a John Ford western, with WZ racing across Monument Valley when suddenly his steed turns into Pegasus, and Zevon rides, waving his hat in a final farewell as he disappears into the clouds.
rock on,

"Bob Dylan covered three songs by Warren Zevon during his performance at the Key Arena in Seattle on Friday (October 4), in tribute to the singer-songwriter who is stricken with inoperable lung cancer.

Dylan performed Zevon's ballad "Accidentally Like a Martyr" early in the show and later sang two more Zevon songs, "Boom Boom Mancini" and "Mutineer."
