Uh, it just snowed over here in Malibu. What next, snow gonna fall on Miami? WTF, stupid global warming, global cooling, or whatever the heck it is. This ain't California anymore!

Somewhere, somehow, some environmentalist is going to call this snow proof of global warming. It snowed around here in Oakdale a few days ago. It's just nature doing her thing.

It's been 60-70 degrees most of December, and most of January here in Nashville. Two or three days ago, it finally turned cold.

It's definitely some of the weirdest weather I've ever seen.

Its all part of the Hollywood movie showcase...not to worry. :) Special effects.

I am in Norway and here it is January 18 and we have had no more than 8 days so far where we have had temps below freezing (it was the warmest december on record). We have had serious windstorms Galeforce in some places something like 8-9 times in the last 30 days, also extreme, and rain almostevery other day. Meanwhile friends from New Mexico have sent us pics of all the snow they've been getting. Although I do believe this has something to do with global warming one slightly mitigating factor is that El Nino is present in the pacific this year.

down here on the other side of the equator we're having one of the hottest summers ever, with brief interludes of heavy rain.

Global warming doesn't mean all of the world would be warmer all the time. Ocean currents shift, absorb huge amounts of cold freshwater coming off the poles, down mountains, etc.

My wife just reported the same thing in Eureka. Our weather is famously mild, rarely above 72F/22C on summer days, rarely below 37F/3C on winter nights. But it's been down around 25F/-4C every night for a week now.

Like everything else in the Northern Hemisphere, oceans rotate clockwise due to the Coriolis Force. (Centrifugal force on an off-axis rotation.) The Atlantic Coast of North America is experiencing an unusually warm winter--65F/18C in Washington a couple of days ago, whereas in past years I've seen it snow on Thanksgiving.

Washington is on the left side of the rotating ocean, getting all that warm water from the tropics. I've seen it predicted that some areas will become colder in the Global Warming model because of ocean currents shifting as melting ice opens up new paths for the moving water. They're most likely to be the places on the right side of the rotating ocean where Arctic water is coming down.

Perhaps some glaciers have melted in Alaska, giving new bodies of water access to the ocean, and the Pacific Coast of North America is receiving more icy water than it's used to.

Environmentalists' rubbish. I had it with the greenhouse-favoring, in fact the environmentalists will get more jobs and money from peoples' fears.

draqon, shh for two seconds. Please :(

I can report much the same as sockpuppetpath here in central Scotland. It's gone below zero a few times this winter and we've only had snow on low ground a couple of times this past week. Stormy weather seems to be the new in thing with mild temperatures.

The UK is meant to get the first proper cold snap of winter next week. Can't wait.

well than to back all of you people up and increase your fear once more. yes here in Michigan weather had been chaotic, just two weeks ago it was up in 60's F and now its below at 20's F. Whats more to add to your fears...all of trees are covered in this ice crust...since there was a sudden temperature downfall and all the rain froze.

Let it snow:)

Broadcast frank sinatra's 'let it snow, let it snow, let it snow' to the heavens in a harmonious broadcasting voice and sure as anything, at this time of year, it will snow. I do it all the time at this time of year, the kids love me for it...some people call me the weather man:)

I'm not particularly worried, just it'd be nice to have some kind of idea what the weather will be doing tomorrow.

I went biking on Tuesday to a place that'd normally be covered in snow, but it was a beautiful sunny day and you could sit on the top of the mountain in a couple of layers quite happily. That's a bonus :)
