Hi
sorry for the bad title, but I was wondering if I should post this or not, but here it comes.....
What will happen if someone with Leukemia is infected with HIV?

get mad....

AIDS will kill the huge amounts of leukocytes that leukemia produces, and leukemia will replenish the cells that AIDS kills off. That's just theory though, I don't think anyone would think of AIDS as a cure for leukemia. Who knows what the equilibrium point would be?

By the way, leukemia cells are not good at fighting infection anyway.

The victim dies faster. I doubt they cancel each other out...Interesting question though.

okay, so you're suggesting that the two diseases make an even deadlier combination, okay, point taken.....
But sarge, according to your post, what can make the process speed up?

If you have HIV destroying leukocytes, and the leukemia producing large quantities of somewhat unspecialised, and therefore less functional leukocytes, you will succumb to illness faster. Your immune system will be destroyed faster, and you will likely be killed by neither of the original problems, but rather a cold or flu that your immune system can't handle.
