Good day to everyone! I’m Orinda and I’m a frequent visitor of this forum. I finally decided to sign up and join the fun. Looking forward to learn from all of you here :)
 
Hi there. Let me know when you find something fun going on here. A lot of the dialogue I get involved in is more like having a tooth pulled.

Your the first Orinda I've ever met so I did a search and it appears that you were named after a city. Did you ever get the story of how you came to be named Orinda? If you would like some help coming up with an interesting avatar please let me know.
Orinda is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 17,643 at the 2010 census, and was estimated in 2012 to have increased to 18,342. Orinda was ranked 2nd most friendly town in America by Forbes. The town is located just east of the city of Berkeley and is home to many affluent suburban professionals who commute to downtown Oakland, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek. Its location provides for a more rustic landscape, and Orinda's many parks and trails make it a destination for many Bay Area hikers and naturalists.

Yes my grandfather hails from Contra Costa and I have a sister who's named Monica also. I'm currently in Vallejo now with my husband and kids :)

I agree with spidergoat about using your real name. When I first started posting in a science forum I used my real name for about my first 600 posts. I can tell you having an ID other than your real name has a tendency to make you a little less inhibited. Also from a more practical POV it also helps prevent others from easily tracking you simply by using your name in Google. I would suggest if your going to make a change plan both an ID and an avatar that compliment each other.

One word of caution is to not use your real name and to certainly not use your real name in conjunction with telling everyone where you are. And this is the internet. While I do not envisage any of our members being that kind of psycho, it is still the internet and while our members may not be psycho, others perusing this public forum may be.

Another name for the highlighted text is (lurker). But frequent visitor does sound better.:D
 
You can PM one of the administrators and request a name change.
