The RNA-guided endonuclease Cas9 has made genome editing a widely accessible technique. Similar to Cas9, endonucleases from the Argonaute protein family also use oligonucleotides as guides to degrade invasive genomes. Scientists display new method of DNA-guided genome editing in human cells using the Natronobacterium gregoryi Argonaute, which comes with certain benefits over CRISPR/Cas9 and adds to the collection of genome editing tools.
