I have followed Debbie Schlussel's links and looked for evidence to support her assertions and everything loops back to Debbie Schlussel.

She charges that terrorists sponsored Fakih. She charges that Fakih's relatives are terrorists. She Charges Imad Hamad with being a terrorist and an abettor of immigration fraud.

I found no support for any of these charges. Perhaps I missed something in the sea of links looping back to Schlussel.


Becoming Miss USA will cost $2,000 to $10,000 and more if the contestant thinks she needs breast implants or other surgery. How the contestants raise this money is entirely up to them. This sponsorship is informal and private. I found no evidence that Debbie Schlussel or anybody knows how Rima Fakih funded her quest for miss USA. I think Schlussel would have presented her evidence if she had any. She had evidence that Imad Hamad was aware of and enthusiastic about Rima Fakih because local media talked to him.

Imad Hamad is head of some anti-discrimination against Arabs group. I did not find reports about his involvement in immigration fraud that did not originate with Schlussel. I did not find reports that Hamad had been accused of being linked to the Popular front for the liberation of Palestine that do not originate with Schlussel. Because of the way Schlussel presented her information of this accusation I have a hunch that she did not make up this accusation but the identity and truthfulness of the accuser is not known to her. Schlussel accuses Hamad of calling Palestinian cartoons for children that depict terrorism against Israel patriotic cartoons. I did not investigate this but by the way it was presented I suspect it to be distorted but partially true. Hamad is Schlussel's political enemy because they are both activists on opposite sides of the Israel/Palestine and Anti versus pro Muslims and Arabs shouting matches.

I don't agree with Schlussel on what it means to oppose Israel.

As far as the people in South Lebanon named Fakih, I see no sign that they are anything other than the result of Google searches for Fakih + Hezbollah and Fakih + Amal. First Amal then Hezbollah were essentially the government of Shia Lebanon because the Shia rejected governance by the government on the grounds that it was not Democratic and did not treat them fairly. Israel has been at war or at cold war with Shia Lebanon since the 1970s. If these Fakih people who have no known relationship to Rima Fakih did anything wrong by fighting for their people then Israeli soldiers did wrong by fighting for their people also.

While their may be snippits of truth in Schlussel's writing she is basically an unrepentant liar.

This is getting ridiculous and is a non-issue in u.s media. I would have never even heard about this BS except for this thread and virtually no one is talking about it. I said the same thing last year for the other miss u.s.a when she was asked about gay marriage because its no ones business and peole here went berserk. She won it fairly and that is the end of it.
