Make Muslims Assimilate, show skin, but don't let them win beauty contests

Rima-Fakih-07.jpg
Since when are stripping and pole dancing the same thing?
The contest this picture is taken from (which Ms Fakih won) was called "Stripper 101".

Maybe the problem is that our decades of liberal brainwashing have made us forget the true meaning of beauty. Back in the old days it was all about, y'know, good 'ole fashioned values and decency and all that. Clearly the key to finding our way into the future lies in the constancy of the past, so let us look back to the glory days of yore, when true, proper Christian values ruled the land, and there perhaps we can find our inspiration:

Oh hell yeah, sign me up for a piece of that action.

You're going a bit too far back, there. Here's the first Miss USA:

and here's a group pic of the swimsuit competition:

So, let me see if I understand the 'conservative' objection.

1) She should be (only) a sex object, but a mild one. Like we know guys are going to wank while thinking about her and watching her and we know this is a shallow contest objectifying women, but we should pretend it is a tasteful objectification for wanking and she ruined this by maybe doing stuff that makes denial of this a little harder. Bad girl.

2) This contest is usually fair and is, after all, important. Like something to take seriously. Like, you know, it should be run fairly and with dignity, like other important things like government. Or, anyway....well, there must be something important that is run fairly and with dignity.

Are conservatives also monitoring the fairness and dignity of skateboarding concerts and the yearly awards for porno movies?

That is silly Doreen.
Oh, John, you always add so much to discussions. Your posts always deal directly and specifically with arguments you disagree with. Even though we often disagree it is great to have someone who furthers a discussion.

The fact is, that Rima Fakih is a Shi’ite Muslim whose family are members of Hezbollah–the Islamic terrorist group that murdered over 300 mostly-Christian Marines and U.S. Embassy officials in Beirut. Wake up to this PR fakery, people.
What does that have to do with her?

Members of my family have spent a great deal of time in prison for selling drugs. I don't use, sell or advocate using illegal drugs. I have taught medical students about drugs and their effects on human physiology. Oh, but, maybe I shouldn't have been employed at medical school - I mean, I have family members who were in prison for selling illegal drugs.

THAT is the argument you are making and it's not making any sense. What next? Amercian Muslims shouldn't compete in the Olympics. We don't want a White American Christian losing to an American Muslim who may run much faster BUT whose uncle supports the Ayatollah? That's ridiculous.

She's an American Citizen and that's all she needs to apply for this as a contestant. She won the competition. Which is about her beauty, not about what some of her family gets up to. Done.

not to interrupt you Doreen, however, if you should just happen to take a slight gander 5cm above your original post - there you shall find someone wank worthy :p

Yah, yah. As I'm sure you know I am not questioning anyone's wankworthiness - thank you for a new noun - or even criticizing wanking. It's like wanking lite competitions could possibly raise issues of open, honest wanking images? Please.

That is what i cant understand about Doreens post. If there were pictures of any one of us on a beach somewhere and someone posted them on the internet then what is to stop someone from 'wanking'? People are so strange but if we lived by the rules of others we would al turn into our own little dictators....ooops, too late for that.

Um, wouldn't it be an adjective rather than a noun?
Nope, it refers to a state or quality.

Worthiness is a noun form of worthy. Wankworthiness is a kind of worthiness, one based on being sexually stimulating.

'Wankworthy' would be the noun.

She/he is a wankworthy person.
Adjective.

Her/his wankworthiness is cannot be questioned. Noun. The wankworthiness is a quality or state a person HAS.

Like

His intelligence cannot be questioned.

Thank goodness I also have a couple of degrees in English or I would not be up to the challenge.

Note: I believe most words ending in -ness are nouns. They are generally nouns built from adjectives. Like emptiness, richness, happiness and so on.

In fact -ness is the giveaway that it is a noun.
