Mafia - the forum game

The remaining townspeople gather once more in the Town Hall. The Bodyguard (skaught) is absent from the vote.

Many of the people seem unsure about who is likely to be Mafia and who is not.

In conversations, the most often mentioned name today has been that of the Mayor (Asguard). Perhaps sensing that the tide is turning against him, the Mayor does not register a vote at the meeting.

The Police Officer (Betrayer0fHope), perhaps relying on the results from his investigations today, briefly toys with voting for the Entertainer (Challenger78), who is no longer immune. However, in the end, the Police Officer decides against voting for Challenger.

The result of the vote is almost a foregone conclusion. Although the Mayor has been attacked and saved by the Doctor, then later arrested and freed by the Lawyer, suspicion has again come to rest on his shoulders. The townspeople strip the Mayor of his robes of office. The Police Officer slaps on the handcuffs and the Mayor is unceremoniously loaded into a police van for the trip to the Penitentiary. There, he will join the Travel Agent and the Lawyer, neither of whom will likely be pleased to see him...

In all, six townspeople voted for Asguard.

With the Mayor (Asguard) in prison, eight townspeople remain in town tonight. The Mayor cannot be released from prison, so he will play no further part in this game.

It is discovered that Asguard was high up and active in the local MAFIA.

Although the Mafia threat is diminishing, the Mafia still has influence in Plazmaville. The townspeople cannot yet sleep easy, because they know that members of the Cosa Nostra are still on the loose, and no doubt beginning to get desperate to protect their identities!

Strangely, the Casino Owner (USS Athens) has chosen NOT to observe anybody on CCTV tonight.

Night falls once again.

[size=+1]NIGHT 5 will last until a majority "kill" vote is received from the remaining Mafia members (send PM to the moderator).

However, if there is no clear majority vote by 31 August, 2 pm UT, DAY 6 will most likely not begin before about 1 September, 6 am UT[/size]

This thread will be closed until DAY 6 begins. Mafia may now PM each other.

Night 5 has been extended again.

It is now late night in my RL time zone. I have to sleep and go to work tomorrow. So...

Night 5 will be extended until:

(a) 2 September, around 1:30 am UT, if I have received the mafia votes by then AND have time to pop in to start DAY 6 then; or
(b) 2 September, around 8:00 am UT, otherwise (when DAY 6 will start one way or another, with or without Mafia votes).

Another day, another townsperson dead...

This morning, the Entertainer (Challenger78) was found dead in his hotel room. The room was a mess, with lamps overturned, glasses and a champagne bottle lying broken on the floor. The Entertainer was found face-down on the floor. It appears he was strangled and had his throat partially severed by some kind of cord - perhaps a clothesline or piano wire. There appears to have been a struggle. The curtains on the balcony door were pulled off their runners and lay in a rough pile around the Entertainer, with his hand still clutching them.

The townspeople wait expectantly for news of another murder, following the pattern of the previous days, but thankfully no news comes.

Perhaps the town is getting on top of its mafia problem...

The Entertainer (Challenger78 ) is now DEAD, and can play no further part in this game.

Further post-mortem investigations reveal that the Entertainer was NOT a member of the mafia.
