I read this term online: "Lucid Living." Is it possible to be alive yet not awake?

You should go into a bar front a drunk and ask him.
Or perhaps when at the drive thru ask there.

Or...if you owned everything in the world what would you buy?

I know you smoke but I thought it was just backy but must be wacky backy.

Do you need be drinking or using drugs to be absent from life?

Well you could turn to religion if you dont want to take drugs that will do the trick but why do you want to be absent from life?
You take drugs..backy and coffee are drugs.
Do you smoke to alter your mental state, do you drink coffee for a little buzz...do you think those drugs help you be absent from life?

Lucid Living is just a phrase to get you to pay attention to your life.

But if you are really interested in an answer to that question, look up "philosophical zombie". Have you ever arrived in your parking lot at work, with no memory of the drive getting there?

No, but there have been times when I forgot what I had for dinner the night before. It is kind of embarrassing when someone asks.

If we didn't turn a blind eye to most of reality, we'd all go mad.
Our madness might the cause of our reality. I've been following a guy on YouTube who claims that most people are insane, only that insanity is considered normal.

For example, homosexuality used to be considered a mental illness - and bullying used to be considered normal.

Well, I've been giving that some thought. To the best of my recollection, during my prime, sex never involved more than a few hours of my time, if I was lucky, once every week. And I do have my preference, but I'm not certain I would claim it as my identity. You tell me, Bob: does your penis define who you are?

What's this? A bid for non-sequitur prize of the month? Or a joke example of bullying? :D

It's an honest question. Heterosexual or homosexual, does your penis define who you are?
But what possible relevance does that have to what SideshowBob was saying, which was about the evolution in definitions of mental illness?

And why ask twice in the thread and a third time on Sideshowbob's profile page?

Personal identity doesn't play a role in the individual psyche? He and I were discussing the insanity of people and life. What better place to start than on the individual perception of self.

And why ask twice in the thread and a third time on Sideshowbob's profile page?
Why are you so concerned? Even you are avoiding the question.
