Literal interpretation Commandment #10

#10 says as a man I can't covet my neighbor's wife, manservants, maids, ass(his or hers I don't know) etc. It says nothing of the wife coveting her neighbor's husband. If I literally interpret that then ladies..... its a freeforall....covet all you want because there's no heavenly rule against it. I'm covetable by the way.

Did they forget about women when they penned God's Big Ten?

No, because when it was written women were already not allowed to do that. Women had little to no rights unless they were royalty.

later in the torah, specific rules are given for what happens in pretty much every situation when you break a law.

When it says man it refers to all people. kind of like the word mankind does. And when it says ass i hope you know that means donkey-livestock-possesions. Its saying that you should not covet anything.

No ...its quite specific but I guess in this day and age a woman can also covet her neighbor's wife although I don't think that was the intent. My neighbor's wife is pretty good looking, if my wife and I both covet her I could be talked into a threesome. Did I just sin? Oh, oh!
