laboratory glassware cleaning protocol

quick question... will this protocol do for glassware that contained peptides and organic solvents?

1. detergent wash
2. water rinse
3. acetic acid rinse
4. methanol rinse

I would think the acetic acid (acetone) would be enough. what the methanol step for?

not exactly sure. i think it's to remove any water left over. the methanol will rinse off any h20 or acetate and since it's highly volatile will leave everything dry in a flash.

actually methanol is not good for removing water, try flaming drying.

I clean my Western glass plates with Acetone first and then spritz with EtOH.

won't it take forever to flame dry 20 conical flasks?

I would guess about 30sec a flask?
