Kali, Shiva and Parvati

What's what here?

In the Wiki article about Kali, it states that her consort is Shiva.
In the Wiki article about Shiva, it states that his consort is Parvati.

Can someone straighten this out for me please?

The Wiki article about Kali is not exactly straight-forward, and I am looking for a better one.
Can you help with that as well, please?
kali is another name of parvati (in particular she is the ferocious aspect of parvati)

parvati has many names

here are 108

Lightgigantic's right.

Kali is feminine form of kala, which is time. eventually time kills everyone, everything, so it is appropriate that her form is of a killer ( holding sickle etc.). (from her picture / depiction ).

While parvati has several forms, she is called daughter of Himalyas ( so naturally she is feminine half of shiva, who represents all manifest and unmanifest spirtuality ( short of words on this, please forgive me =) ), in her other form she was daughter of daksha ( the king who did yagya and didnt invite shiva in it ) she is called Sati, who jumps in fire because of an insult to shiva. Shiva is sometimes called Kal Bhairava sometimes...

some random thoughts ...

interesting posts though ...

Nice discussions on the nature of the universe and the cycle of creation. Sometimes I wonder when so much stuff was written, can one interpret according to what is current? Like Nostradamous or DaVinci Code and the book Moby Dick...

Whether the ancient Indians belived the world to be Maya because of the quantum universe and matter and energy, the strings and the branes or the Maya points to their futile attempt to understand the time and reality - who knows!

Trying to prove that 311 Billion years has already passed or that how many times the multiverse has existed before us will be very interesting. At somepoint information could be just one way....

But the thoughts are definitely at a PhD level....

the rig veda states that god is one and he has many names.. the kali, parvati, durga etc. are just different manifestations or personifications of shakti.. mythologically, parvati isgenerally thought of as sita reincarnated and kali is said to have emerged after the death of sita when shiv plucked out a hair from his head in anger.. there are naturally many different stories and this is just one of them

Rig Veda does not mention Kali, Parvati, Durga as these names are added later by persons unknown. Rig Veda mostly talks about Indra, Vishnu and Agni...and a few other names of minor entities.

empirical authority and vedic research make for an incompatible conclusion
